Movies and television are often an escape from and a reflection of life unfolding. They also can play an outsize role in shaping and reinforcing cultural beliefs and attitudes about race, both in the United States and internationally. However, Black talent remains underrepresented in the TV and film industry both on and off screen. In fact, McKinsey & Company found that this lack of representing is costing the industry $10B annually.

While progress has been made with regards to talent diversity in the film industry in recent years inequity is deeply entrenched across the film and TV ecosystem.
